DC Universe and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have just released Justice League: The New Frontier Commemorative Edition. This brand-new special edition comes to us in Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital, and is packed with bonus features. Enjoy watching as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern, the Flash and Martian Man-hunter come together to defend the world from evil.
Celebrating the late author and artist, Darwyn Cooke, this set features different cover artwork than the original version. The artwork on this set is fantastic and really reminds you of the original comic book heroes. In the lower-left corner you will notice the printed signature: “Darwyn”, which I thought was a nice touch.
My first impression of the film was that it looks great. The artwork and animation was top notch and really makes for a wonderful viewing experience. The story line is fast paced and moves along nicely. Set mainly in the Cold War era 50’s, the movie sheds light on the real paranoia at this time in history, with some mature scenes earning the film’s PG-13 rating. The way the music and voices sounded in this film was also very impressive, and offered a neat perspective of this era in time.
I thought the voice actors did a phenomenal job on their respective roles, Particularly David Boreanaz as the Green Lantern, and Jeremy Sistos as Batman. I thought these were really great voice performances. Rounding out an impressive class of voices, Lucy Lawless, Neil Patrick Harris, Kyle MacLachlan, and Miguel Ferrer complete a team that did very well on this movie.
If you are a fan of the original comics, or just a superhero fan in general, this is a must-add to your collection. The way DC brings well-known characters and less-familiar characters together in this film made me a bigger fan of DC Universe. The ending, while maybe a tad cheesy, is exactly what I was hoping for. It leaves you with a sense of optimism, satisfaction, and ultimately feeling like the good guys won.
