A revision of the classic underdog team that battles villains and saves the day is all in this 2-disc DVD. Justice League Action is all about the team and their triumphs with villains including the mastermind that is The Joker. Both discs consist of 26 episodes collectively that amount to about two hours of content on each disc. Each episode is about 10-12 minutes long that consists of battles and humorous moments. The animated show is currently running on Cartoon Network.
I really enjoyed the show. The episodes were short and sweet but still managed to feel longer and kept me engaged. Justice League Action showed the main characters, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman sporadically on each episode. However, I appreciated the appearance of other Justice League members such as Captain Marvel and Firestorm. The other characters can also be seen in the opening credits along with the DVD cover.
My favorite part about the show is that it stuck to the classic DC concept of heroism. For example, Wonder Woman was still her honest self along with Batman’s mysterious personality. I also enjoyed the fact that The Joker was not their prime target to attack. The show had other villains and problems they needed to solve that did not involve The Joker which kept my attention. The amount of content in each episode was also surprising considering how short the episodes are.
I wish there was more insight into their alter egos (Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent), but I guess that is what the movies are for. I just think it would be entertaining to see both sides of the characters from an animation standpoint. Parents may be entertained by how the show is but I think that aspect would really enthuse them because they could compare it to the Justice League shows growing up. The animation was a plus though. It looks so modern with the bright colors and looks cool with its different effects such as the space animation.
The DVD includes the main menu with an episodes category along with a language category. The language category consists of about five languages such as English, Spanish, and French. This language feature was extremely interesting because there is even an option for those that are deaf and hard of hearing. The last feature includes trailers that consist of two trailers with one being the 2016 Wonder Woman movie trailer.
My main flaw about the DVD was that the “play” button on the home screen literally plays each episode without an option to click to the next episode. Each time you press play, the shows continue so you have to sit through the opening and ending credits unless you fast forward through. However, that can get hectic because one would have to guess the exact time to skip to the next episode. However, the episode selection tab is great to go to a specific episode. This makes it easier for those eager to watch their favorite episode.
I would recommend this show to people of all ages. It is great for younger kids that enjoy crime-fighting scenarios. I would also recommend it for parents because it is the same battles but more appropriate for their children. There is no blood and gory images so it is perfect for those interested in Justice League without the harsh content.
