The Presentation
Although the story wasn’t too thrilling, the presentation of Initial D was great. The way they had the language selection menu pop up was interesting; they allowed the viewer to select the language before they viewed the show. The way they had the menu set up made the viewer look as if they were preparing for a race, preparation is important for any situation and they brought this out in their menu setup.
Extras
Nothing interesting!
The Artwork
The artwork was a great feature. It was a mixture of 2D and 3D animation; for the bulk of the show it was 2D but when it came to them driving their cars it switched to 3D. This feature was also in Transformers Energon. The artwork was very impressive!
Overall
It allowed the viewer to explore different genres in anime and it made the viewer take a look into the reality of life; it is competitive and that we all have some one that we want to measure up to and surpass. In Takumi’s case it was his father that he wanted to outdo, Fathers and sons can be very competitive, there can be a lot of pressure that is put on the son as he tries to follow in his father’s footsteps. On an often basis, the son falls short somewhere and at some point they can experience a sense of inferiority to the father. It can get to the point that they feel like a shadow and want to become their own person. Although it may have served as an inspiration for Takumi to be like his father in racing, He had to prove to himself that he could be his own individual and surpass his father. The animation was incredible in the fact that it had a mixture of 2D and 3D graphics. Initial D is commendable for anyone.
