Is it just me, or is it rude to call someone who’s agreed to meet with you a “miserable English sow”? It certainly doesn’t make it easy to convince the soldier-level members of each organization that fighin’ words haven’t been tossed into the ring. At any rate, Escariot finally decides to share a shred or two of information about the single word revealed to Hellsing by the enemy(“Millennium”), as well as a little tidbit about their own involvement in Nazi support during World War II. It turns out that Iscariot assisted in the evacuation of a large number of Nazi party loyalists to South America just before the invasion of Germany by Allied forces. Taking the cue that the Millennium Organization is highly organized and intent on world domination, Sir Integra decides that their only choice is to send operatives into South America. Her choices? Alucard, naturally, as well as his protégé Seras Victoria (vampire-in-training), and a newly hired group of mercenaries, led by the intrepid Captain Bernadotte (formerly non-believer in vampires and the supernatural).
However, it seems that the enemy has discovered Hellsing’s intent, and have manipulated not only the press, but the local government, police, and military in order to launch an attack on our band of operatives. In the midst of the (terrible/horrific/merciless) bloodbath, Millenium also inserts their own operative in an attempt to engage, and hopefully destroy, their main opposition: Alucard himself. The blood flies high in this installment of the series, and we discover more and more surprising talents the Millennium organization members seem to hold. Why resurface after 50 years of silence? What could their intent be?
I’m not sure this DVD would really make any sense if I hadn’t been following the series up to now, but some of the basics are easily conveyed despite any level of backstory. Alucard is tough as nails, and has probably been looking to ‘go to war’ for quite some time now. How sad that he doesn’t often encounter an opponent who can match his abilities for any length of time. I do have to respect Sir Integra’s decisive position: When Alucard apprises her of the current situation, and how many humans might still stand between him and his objective, she stands firm on her orders, which brings us to the wonderful quote listed on the box.
“Search and Destroy! Any resistance you encounter is to be crushed! Hellsing does not run from our enemies! Destroy anyone and anything that stands in your way!”
