This part of the series begins with Ostrum defeated, Toa kidnapped by the Gillard Prince, Thanatos bearing down on Earth, and the other Dragonauts being hunted by their former employer the ISDA. Jin must rescue Toa and the other Dragonauts if there is any hope at all of saving Earth. Though in all honesty, he seems to only care about one thing, the dragon turned girlfriend, Toa.
This part of the series is very action heavy and resolves the rest of the conflicts in the series. It focuses very heavily on the relationship between Jin and Toa making their relationship almost the centerpiece for the entire series.
Presentation
The animation doesn’t change very much at all from the first part, though there is considerably more action, which of course means more CGI. Honestly, since I covered most of the presentation in the first part, I won’t re-hash it here. The only real changes between this part and the second part is the amount of plot twists (which there are several REALLY good ones), the pace of the story (it picks up a lot) and the focus from the other Dragonauts to almost solely Jin and Toa. The second part also features a new ending theme “Fight or Flight” which is bit heavier and energetic than the first half’s counterpart. Other than that, it’s more or less the same as the first half of the series. The animation is fairly good, the voice acting work is good, the music is good, and the fan service still gets in the way. The story definitely does pick up fairly well enough, and the ending itself (although a bit Disney-ish) is very well thought through.
Extras
Like the first half, it has the same extras, clean opening and ending songs, a handful of really cool trailers and a fairly amusing commentary on Episode 16.
Overall, it’s more of the same from the first half. The series is a fairly good watch, and the plot twists alone will have you wondering what’s next.
