Presentation
The Box Set gave the viewer a choice of English and Japanese dialogue in addition to the chapter selection in addition to subtitles. With Sleeping Princess and Mystical Adventures, it seems that the animation quality is as classic as the TV Series of Dragon Ball. I will say that there were some significant differences between three movies. With the Sleeping Princess, it had no chapters like the others movies and episodes, making it more difficult on the viewer to skip to a selective moment unless they have the skip option on their remote. The Language selection was different as well; If you select Japanese dialogue it give the viewer a different introduction. The ending of Sleeping Princess is the same except that they have it in Japanese text and the song is different. The track that was being played is a Japanese version of the updated ending of the Dragon Ball series that is now in English. I will also mention that the Dialogue can not be switched without going back to the language menu for the fact that they had different features, the subtitles however could be changed. In Mystical Adventures, It is brought back to the normal selection of Dialogue with no changes at all and it has the Chapter Selection again. The animation quality was the same as the sleeping princess. However, with the “Path to Power” it brought the animation up to the standards of Dragon Ball GT, very sharp in quality. It had everything the viewer needed to see; Chapter selection with choice of English or Japanese dialogue without any changes to the film. The voice acting is different in “Sleeping Princess” and “Mystical Adventures” but is up to date with Funimation in “Path to Power”. Excellent presentation.
Extras
With Sleeping Princess, they had a sneak peak of DragonBall GT, The Galaxy Railways Leap of Faith, Case Closed, Full Metal Alchemist and Samurai 7. With Mystical Adventures, they had a preview of the Dragon Ball Movie Sleeping Princess, History of Trunks, Bardock the Father of Goku; they were separate presentations instead of the double feature. They also introduced the first volume of the Cell Saga but it wasn’t the Season 5 Release of the DVD Box set. Last but not least the updated DBZ Store of that time which is now more updated than it was of the update. These sneak peaks would have been good for its time but right now may be a little old to see on the viewer. With Path to Power, they threw in a character profile option to view the background of the main characters. They also threw in a sneak peak of Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Movie 13, Yuyu Hakusho and the Shonen Jump Magazine. Sneak peaks may seem a bit old to view but gives the viewer something to look back on in case there were episodes and movies that they wished to have.
Overall
Great action and plot overall; The creators took time to redo the animation quality of Dragon Ball with Path to Power, showing a compilation of Goku’s beginnings in the fashion of the Manga version(like Bulma’s hair being purple instead of green), save only that he looks the way he did in GT when he got shrunk. This box set is highly recommended for anyone that is a fan of Dragon Ball.
