Click remains a great blend of both the funny and sad moments that Sandler is good at providing. An early demonstration at the range he could achieve, this release looks and sounds much improved over the prior Blu-ray release. This one is available 6/23/26.

“A harried workaholic, Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) doesn’t have time for his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and children, not if he’s to impress his ungrateful boss and earn a well-deserved promotion. So when he meets Morty (Christopher Walken), a loopy sales clerk, he gets the answer to his prayers: a magical remote that allows him to bypass life’s little distractions with increasingly hysterical results. But as Michael gleefully mutes, skips and scans past his family and his friends, the remote gradually takes over his life and begins to program him, in this fast, funny and out-of-control comedy adventure.”

Adam Sandler built his early career with raunchy, somewhat juvenile comedies like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, and Big Daddy, earning him early recognition as a bankable comedy star. While he’s since become the undisputed king of Netflix comedies, films like Click (2006) showed that in between the silly hits, he was capable of delivering movies that were genuinely funny while also packing a surprising emotional punch. Directed by Frank Coraci, Click is essentially a modern, high-concept take on A Christmas Carol, a cautionary tale about priorities, family, and the irreversible nature of time.

Michael’s journey with the remote starts as a hilarious power fantasy, letting him skip arguments, traffic, and mundane workdays to fast-track his career and give his family the life he believes they deserve. But as the years fly by in the blink of an eye and the remote begins to skip what it believes are trivial moments based on his past usage, he learns the devastating lesson that the life his family truly deserves is the one where he is actually present. It’s an emotional journey that resonates deeply, one that many of us can definitely relate to, delivering some truly tender and heartbreaking moments. Sandler’s performance here remains steps above his normal routine, showing incredible dramatic range at a time when many still saw him primarily as a comedic actor. The mix of slapstick laughs and genuine sadness gives the film a soul that elevates it beyond typical Sandler comedy.

Although there is a lot of comedic fluff that can diminish the deeper message, like continuous humping dogs and moments when Adam Sandler’s character literally stops time to fart in his boss’s face, at its core, the heartfelt and emotional journey Michael Newman takes continues to make this one of my favorite Sandler films.

Video

Sony’s 4K UHD release looks sharp and vibrant with Dolby Vision HDR. Colors really pop in this new transfer, especially the ‘futuristic’ sequences in what the filmmakers believe the 2020’s would look like. Close-up, skin texture, all benefit from improved clarity which is greatly improved from the previous Blu-ray release.

Audio

Audio is presented in Dolby Atmos, providing an immersive mix that handles the comedic sound effects, score by Rupert Gregson-Williams, and quieter emotional scenes beautifully. Dialogue remains clear and centered throughout.
