“Ten stories of love, compassion, redemption and acceptance set against the vivid backdrop of Berlin.” – Official Synopsis

Berlin, I Love You, is a romantic film that lasts around an hour and forty minutes. The film incorporates several different stories about people in the city of Berlin. Berlin, I Love You has eleven directors – yes eleven. The film begins with a scene of a male performance artist in the street dressed as an angel, with his face painted white, hoping for tips. A young brunette lady arrives and stand next to him and begins to sing. People passing by them on the streets give the young lady tips and pay no attention to the man dressed as an angel. The man gets mad, so the lady offers him to join her so they both can make more money. This couple later on falls in love. Another scene that takes place is a cross-dresser that recently broke up with her boyfriend. She comes across a 16-year-old boy confronting his sexuality when he asks for a kiss. These are just a few of the stories told by the eleven directors of the film.

I didn’t enjoy this film because the storylines that were being told didn’t unfold. I was constantly wanting to know more. Since there were so many stories being told in such a short film, I was confused most of the time. The stories all incorporated love or heartbreak, but never gave an actual ending. I feel as though if there were less stories being told and the directors finished each storyline, the film would have had more flow to it and overall been more entertaining to watch. One enjoyable part of the movie is seeing how beautiful Berlin really is. The scenes of the city were gorgeous but the storylines didn’t make much sense.
