I got off the Kingdom Hearts train sometime in 2009. I appreciated the first game as a provocative mash-up and its sequel as a logic step forward, but the subsequent deluge of spin-offs and side stories left me behind.
Here's a fact; Final Fantasy XV was announced in E3 2006. Then known as Final Fantasy XIII Versus, it was to be part of the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" project, a compilation of thematically and mechanically dissimilar games that also included vanilla Final Fantasy XIII and a cell phone game, Final Fantasy XIII Agito.
