Short Circuit

When I was younger, Short Circuit was just one of those films that I enjoyed watching. I probably only ever saw it seven or eight times, but I had fond memories of ole Johnny Five and the adventure he and co-stars Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy had. I haven’t seen the film in probably a decade, but when I saw it was being released on Blu-ray, I thought what better time to revisit this film? Well...[Read More]

The Incredible Hulk

A few years ago, I reviewed The Hulk: Ultimate Destruction for the original Xbox. It was a very good game, giving Hulk fans the ability to execute all sorts of powerful moves and combos and destroy tons of stuff across desert and urban environments. With the release of The Incredible Hulk in theaters, their was no doubt that there would be a video game to go along with it. Typically, movie based g...[Read More]

Enemy Territory – Quake Wars

Last year, iD released a new Quake game for the PC in the form of Enemy Territory – Quake Wars. This multiplayer focused Quake offering in the spirit of the Battlefield games (two sides, complete with Classes), received some pretty solid review scores and now, about eight months later, the journey to the Xbox 360 and PS3 is complete. Is this conversion what console fans have been waiting for? Well...[Read More]

Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 (PSN/XBLA)

In 1985, Capcom released Commando, followed sometime later by a sequel known as Mercs. Both of these old school games featured Rambo like characters that were likely inspired by Hollywood figures of time, and both games led players through short, but satisfying all out blastfests. Recently, Capcom released Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 for consumption on the PSN and XBLA. For $10, you can c...[Read More]

Lost Planet – Extreme Condition

It's been about a year and a half since the Xbox 360 saw the release of Lost Planet - Extreme Condition from Capcom. The acclaimed third person action title had a sound campaign despite a confusing story, but the life of Lost Planet was greatly extended by its addictive online play. Now, Capcom has put together a version 1.5, if you will, of Lost Planet in the form of Lost Planet - Colonies Editio...[Read More]

The 6th Day

Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in some of the biggest blockbusters Hollywood has ever seen. As his acting career began to wind down at the turn of the century, Schwarzenegger's films began to falter. One of these films, The 6th Day, was recently released on Blu-ray. Taking a cue from the news at the time, The 6th Day is a sci-fi action flick about cloning. With a dull script and poor acting, Th...[Read More]

echochrome

Sometimes you see a game for the first time, and you're blown away; you know it's something special. A lot of times, these intuitions turn out to be wrong, the teaser trailers and screenshots and press releases overshadow the true quality of the game. And then, there are those games like echochrome, where your first gut instinct turns out to be right. When I first saw echochrome last July at E3, I...[Read More]

Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 2

Last year, around August to be exact, SNK Playmore released a compilation of Fatal Fury games entitled Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 1. The name, and the fact that several Fatal Fury games were lacking from the very nice compilation indicated that at least a second volume was on the way. This is indeed the case, and we've recently received Battle Archives Vol 2 in for review. Volume 2 features Re...[Read More]

27 Dresses

I had seen my fair share of romantic comedies; most are generic and forgettable, but there have been some gems over the years that surprised me. Most recently I saw 27 Dresses on Blu-ray, starring Katherine Heigl, from Grey's Anatomy fame. I've certainly seen worse, but not a whole lot better in terms of romantic comedies and the Blu-ray release is something you may want to check out.

World Heroes Anthology

From 1992 to 1995, ADK developed the World Heroes series of fighting games, primarily released on SNK platforms like the Neo-Geo. We've seen several well put together collections and anthologies from SNK lately, and one more to add to the collection is the World Heroes Anthology, which I have been spending some time with this week. The entire four part series is here on one disc at a superb retail...[Read More]

NBA Ballers – Chosen One

As the NBA season winds down, Midway brings us its third iteration of its arcade basketball game, NBA Ballers. For the first time on the next gen consoles, NBA Ballers Chosen One is looking to bring the house down with a slam dunk finish. With improved visuals and some new game modes and elements, the outlook is favorable; the outcome, however, falls short.

Independence Day

In 1996, Will Smith, Bill Paxton, Randy Quaid, and Jeff Goldblum, with help from others, held off a full blown alien invasion of Earth to protect mankind. ID4, also known as Independence Day, was arguably the hottest film of the year, and is a textbook example of a summer blockbuster. Fox has recently transferred the hit film to Blu-ray for your consideration. The result is a well put together rel...[Read More]
