Impressions: Borderlands

The final stop to at the 2K Meeting Room was to see Gearbox’s new RPS (as they call it, Role  Playing Shooter) known as Borderlands. The first major point to make about Borderlands this  year at E3 is that the graphics have changed tremendously, and by far for the better, than  previous available coverage of the game. Before, Borderlands was a rather drab and dreary  looking title, with tons...[Read More]

Impressions: Demon’s Souls

I was able to talk to the Producer of Atlus’ Demon Soul’s PS3 RPG for a bit today as the E3  show was coming to a close. Demon Soul’s was originally being produced by SOE (Sony Online  Entertainment) in Japan, but was at some point transferred to Atlus. Due out later this  year, this ambitious project has PS3 players playing a ‘hardcore’ RPG complete with swords,  shi...[Read More]

Impressions: Star Wars Clone Wars Republic Heroes

At our Lucasarts appointment, we got to witness the presentation of a new two player co-op  game that is set in the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated universe. Being developed in house  with the same studio that produces the TV show, this authentic looking and sounding title  has gamers playing as both Jedis and clones as they look to repel the forces of the Empire. Lucasarts’ main goal here wa...[Read More]

Impressions: LEGO Indiana Jones 2

I have yet to quite complete LEGO Indiana Jones on 360, but the sequel is well upon its way  later this year. This new Indy takes a lot of the feedback from focus groups and applies it  to make it an even more robust and well rounded experience than the first one. Players will  once again be able to team up with a friend and play through scenes from all four Indy  movies, with new, previously unpl...[Read More]

Impressions: Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squadron

The first Star Wars Battlefront PSP title was a huge success for Lucasarts, so they’re back  to the platform for a new title, Elite Squadron. Elite Squadron gives players the ability to  navigate Hero, Land, and Space battles, all at once. The game will feature a dozen worlds,  all with objectives that span from the planet to space, and players will have the option to  partake in the mayhem ...[Read More]

MAG – Small Exclusive News Item & Details

We haven’t yet gotten to spend a great deal of time with MAG, but we were able to ask one of the lead devs from Zipper Interactive some questions about that game today. We received a few requests for info on this game, let me go ahead and post these responses and points in bullet form, but first the exclusive news we received directly from Zipper: There is an additional map in development th...[Read More]

Impressions: Lost Planet 2

I got a chance to play the Lost Planet 2 E3 demo today. We were only able to play a single level of four player co-op that took place in a lush valley, surrounded by very large mountains. Several hills and a large pool of water were also part of the setting. Weapons, a few mechs, and several respawn points were strewn about for us to discover and use against a massive six legged lizard that came o...[Read More]

Impressions: Reflection

The last title I have to write about tonight is coincidentally the last game I played tonight. I think indie developer Intrinsic has something very special in their hands with their DSiware game, Reflection. Reflection’s intriguing and addictive catch is in its core gameplay– it’s a side scrolling platformer with a simple, but ingenious element. There is a full story to the game ...[Read More]

Impressions: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

One of Sony’s major hits this year is undoubtedly going to be Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I sat down with a Producer from Naughty Dog today while he showed me some of the single player greatness that is Uncharted 2. I actually have not played the game multiplayer yet, although I will be doing that tomorrow. I was able to get a 10 pack of online vouchers for the beta however, of which I am gi...[Read More]

Impressions: God of War III

God of War III… probably going to be my personal game of the year for 2010 when it releases in March. We have already posted the HD demo video we filmed on the floor yesterday at this location, but I also got a chance to play through a lot of the demo myself today at a booth meeting we had with Sony. Frankly, there really isn’t a lot to say about GoW III — it’s going to be ...[Read More]

Impressions: Red Steel 2

I was able to play through the Red Steel 2 demo today at Ubi’s booth while talking to a developer of the game. The demo lasted about twenty minutes, playing on Medium, and with me dying about four times. Some of the first details you should know about Red Steel 2 if you don’t already are that it requires the Wii MotionPlus, which it will ship with later this year, and that it has absol...[Read More]

Impressions: Alpha Protocol

At our SEGA meeting today we got to meet a couple of developers from Obsidian Entertainment. They showed off an early build of what looks like a very promising game: Alpha Protocol. Alpha Protocol is an open world espionage game that combines action, RPG, and adventure elements. Players have a tremendous amount of control over how their player looks, behaves, and levels up in various fields from s...[Read More]
