A Scanner Darkly

Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., and Woody Harrelson were the stars in an animated 2006 film known as A Scanner Darkly. Based off of a novel by Phillip K. Dick, A Scanner Darkly has that edgy, off-beat, cult nature to it that makes it a film loved by some, and disregarded by others. I hadn't seen the movie before we received the Blu-ray for review and I'm happy to admit I was impressed.

Matrix Reloaded

While the Ultimate Matrix Collection on Blu-ray is compelling, some Matrix fans may want to pick and choose their films. To that end, Matrix Reloaded was released as a standalone Blu-ray just last week by Warner Home Video. Packed with extra features and the outstanding presentation quality that the Ultimate set is known for, Matrix Reloaded on Blu-ray is a solid release.

The Forbidden Planet

When you hear 'it's a Leslie Nielsen' movie, what do you think of? I can think of several hilarious comedies that feature the always funny Nielsen, but his career is more than that. In the late 50s, Nielsen starred in a pioneering sci-fi film that fans still love today. "The Forbidden Planet" set the benchmark for many years to come, and many of its ideas are utilized in sci-fi today.

Mars Attacks!

Tim Burton's Mars Attacks! features a star-studded cast. The film has finally made its way to Blu-ray as of last week, and while the presentation quality is great, and the film still enjoyable, I was shocked to find a complete lack of extra features. That said, let's take a closer look at Mars Attacks! on Blu-ray.

Chuck: The Complete Third Season

Chuck returns on DVD and Blu-ray this month with the release of the complete third season. Featuring all nineteen episodes of the third season and several extra features, Chuck fans should make it a point to check this release out, but may also want to consider the DVD release as the image quality on Blu-ray isn't the best...

Supernatural: The Complete Fifth Season

Supernatural brings its fifth season to Blu-ray in a nicely packaged four disc set featuring all twenty-two episodes and several extra features. Let's take a closer look at this new release from Warner.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X 2

Tom Clancy's HAWX series is setting up for its second attack run this week with the release of HAWX 2. Players are once again tasked with flying the latest and greatest planes to save the world in a typical near-future, Tom Clancy world. HAWX 2 is largely the same game as the original with a few changes, both good and bad, to result in what is ultimately a good, but not great, game.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Spider-Man is back! Four of him actually, in Beenox and Activision's newest Spidey adventure, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. This third person action title gives players the chance to play as four distinct Spider-Man personas from different dimensions in a quest to reunite the Tablet of Chaos and Order. How does this latest web slinging adventure fair?

NHL Slapshot

EA is set to make its NHL debut on the Wii this week with NHL Slapshot. This game was built specifically for the Wii rather than being ported from the PS3 or Xbox 360. It even includes a special hockey stick controller that holds your Wiimote and Nunchuk. This special Wii NHL game was built with this controller in mind, but standard control schemes are also supported. Sure, the hockey stick access...[Read More]

Survival of the Dead is George A. Romero's newest zombie film, and what can be considered to be the fifth in a line of films that started way back in 1968 with his cult classic, Night of the Living Dead. More recent films from Romero include Diary of the Dead and Land of the Dead. In this newest horror film with moments of comedy, Romero explores the sometimes bizarre and disappointing state of hu...[Read More]
