LOS ANGELES – APRIL 23, 2026 – Netmarble, a leading developer and publisher of high-quality games, has released the first major update for its anime open world RPG The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. The new update introduces the powerful new hero “Escanor,” along with new story content, a new region, and various in-game events.
Escanor, one of the most iconic and powerful characters from the original The Seven Deadly Sins series, joins the game as a new playable hero. Escanor in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin utilizes a variety of weapons including an axe, greatsword, and sword and shield that delivers high-impact physical attacks while inflicting burn effects on enemies. To celebrate his arrival, his exclusive engraved equipment and sacred treasure “Divine Axe Rhitta” have been added to the game.
Main Story Act 13, “The Sun Rises Again,” is now available. The new chapter follows Meliodas and Hawk as they set out to reunite with their allies after realizing that they have been transported into the future and encounter one of the Ten Commandments, Galland.
The new “My Sweet Gluttony” region has been introduced as well. Located south of Vanya Plains, this newly added region features unique gatherings, cooking ingredients, and ores that further enrich the open-world exploration experience.
Players can also challenge the newly added boss Galland who applies a unique Commandment mechanic that periodically imposes restrictions on players; violating these conditions results in petrification and HP reduction. Clearing the Hell difficulty grants “Evil Eye of Madness”, a material used to craft the Special weapon “Gluttonous Soul Axe.”
A variety of in-game events are now underway to celebrate the update. A check-in event running until June 13 gives players a chance to obtain the mount pet “Proud Mustache Hawk,” flying pet “Wise Big Hoot,” Hero Pick Up Draw Tickets, and more. Players can also participate in a trial event to experience Escanor, where completing challenges grants rewards including Star Fragments, Supreme Mastery EXP, and more. The update also introduces several improvements to enhance the overall gameplay experience. A new Continuous Gathering feature allows players to automatically track and move to the next resource node while gathering or mining. Additionally, an Engraved Equipment Info Preview function has been added, enabling players to check stats and passive effects before crafting. Players can now also obtain crafting materials by defeating elite and boss monsters in both field and dungeon content.
Based on the hit Japanese manga and anime IP The Seven Deadly Sins, which has sold over 55 million copies globally, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin lets players explore Britannia in a vast open world. It features tag-based combat, combination skills, and customizable teams using diverse characters and weapons. Multiplayer elements include forming parties for exploration or teaming up to defeat bosses.
