Teamfight Tactics Introduces New PVE Mode, “Tockers Trials”

A new PVE mode in TFT?! Holy mackerel, this is a surprise that I wasn’t expecting this morning! It’s heading to PBE now and will be available globally later this month! Check out the news below!

======

TLDR: Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials is a highly-experimental, single-player PvE game mode that will be available globally August 27 until September 24.

Date: August 13, 2024

What you need to know:

  • Teamfight Tactics (TFT), the largest PC strategy game in the world, recently launched its 12th game update, Teamfight Tactics: Magic n’ Mayhem. The set is filled with whimsical surprises and magical experimentation featuring the Charms mechanic, bees, portals, and League of Legends champions new to the Convergence including Briar and Smolder. The set wouldn’t be complete without Norra, the iconic Yordle mage from Riot’s strategy card game Legends of Runeterra, who made her TFT debut as a duo with her best friend, Yuumi.
  • Inspired by the latest set and doubling down on game modes, the TFT team brewed up an experimental surprise with the launch of a single-player, PVE game mode called Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials.
  • Here’s what a player can expect when they play Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials:
    • Magic n’ Mayhem at the Core – The player will have access to the current set’s champion and Augment roster, and they will earn gold & level up similarly to how they would in a normal game, except Charms won’t be making an appearance here.
    • 30 Rounds, 6 Bosses, 3 Lives – Things start out simple, but the player will need to put their skills to the test against boards they’ve never encountered anywhere else in TFT. The player’s HP is also replaced with a life counter; lose 3 times, and they’re out!
    • Solo Queue & No Timers – It’s just them vs. the world, the player will need to plan out their strategy against their current foe, and choose when to start the next round when they’re good & ready.
    • Rack Up a High Score & Share Your Results! – As they proceed through each round, they’ll earn points based on their performance! The player can show off and challenge themselves & their friends to hit the highest score possible.
    • Chaos Mode – Once a player has conquered normal mode, take on new twists in Chaos Mode. There’s a reason it’s called that, but we’ll let players discover it on their own.
  • Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials will launch with patch 14.17 (August 27, 2024) and will rotate out with patch 14.19 on September 24, 2024.
  • Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials is available in the Public Beta Environment (PBE) starting today.

Quote from Matthew Wittrock, Principal Game Designer for Teamfight Tactics“Creating and launching a PvE mode is brand new for TFT. We’re looking forward to hearing what players think about Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials and we hope they enjoy it as much as we did being able to create something new for them. As a limited-time experiment, we know there might be some bugs, rough edges, or less-than-perfect balance along the way, but we wanted to get it into the hands of the TFT community as soon as possible as they explore the world of the Magitorium during Teamfight Tactics: Magic n’ Mayhem.”

Quote from Peter Whalen, Game Director for Teamfight Tactics: “This year, we’ve been able to deliver more game modes and events to TFT players than ever before. As a team, we’ve always embraced the spirit of innovation, and Teamfight Tactics: Magic n’ Mayhem and Teamfight Tactics: Tocker’s Trials embodies that sense of experimentation.”
