After 4 years of PC exclusivity, Riot Games’ competitive shooter is finally coming to consoles. Check out the full announcement below.

Video game developer and publisher Riot Games today announced its popular, free-to-play, 5v5 character-based tactical shooter VALORANT will soon be available to global players on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation®5 (PS5®) consoles, beginning with a limited beta – kicking off in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan on June 14, 2024, before possibly rolling out to remaining global regions shortly thereafter. News of VALORANT’s console expansion and upcoming Limited Beta was announced on-stage at the 2024 Summer Game Fest event by VALORANT’s Executive Producer Andy Ho and Production Director Arnar Gylfason, marking a moment of notable growth into the console market for Riot Games. Global console players can learn more about the VALORANT Limited Beta regional eligibility rollout and register their interest in beta access at Beta.PlayVALORANT.com.

Both Xbox and PS5 formats feature custom-built VALORANT gameplay, upholding the game’s strict level of core, competitive gameplay, which remains the ultimate priority for the franchise’s expansion. In order to maintain VALORANT’s renowned standard for competitive integrity, cross-play will not be available between PC and console player matches. However, VALORANT players on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 will have a connected, shared inventory and gameplay progression tied to their VALORANT account. Both PC and console players will receive simultaneous platform releases of all live patch balances, new agents, maps, premium content, and additional live service features.

“When exploring whether to bring VALORANT to additional platforms, we knew we had to be able to offer the same uncompromising, competitive experience that we’ve provided to PC players for years: a precise, team-based, tactical shooter,” said Arnar Gylfason, Production Director of VALORANT at Riot Games. “We were adamant that VALORANT’s core, competitive gameplay must feel natural on a controller; and – if we couldn’t deliver on that gameplay promise – we had to be prepared to walk away from it. We hope we nailed it, but ultimately, our players will have the final say.”

A free-to-play game of precise skill, high stakes and lethal gameplay, VALORANT pits two teams of five players against each other to win a round-based, attackers vs defenders, best-of-24-rounds gunfight.
