LOS ANGELES – March 24, 2021 – iam8bit, in collaboration with developer Altered Matter and publisher Akupara Games, is ready to flip minds with the physical release of Etherborn. The gravity-bending puzzle game is getting a special edition on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, featuring an O-sleeve, reversible cover art, and a fold-out poster, each celebrating the game’s M.C. Escher-like visual design. Both versions of the physical edition will be available for pre-order on iam8bit.com on March 25 at 10 a.m. PDT.
The PlayStation 4 version ($29.99) and Nintendo Switch version ($34.99) are both planned for a Q2 2021 release. The O-sleeve art was created by Etherborn’s creative director, Samuel Cohen. Toni Moll, a Barcelona-based illustrator and tattoo artist, created the poster art. The region-free release will be compatible with PlayStation 4 and Switch consoles worldwide.
Etherborn is a surreal puzzle experience, in which players traverse warping and shifting environments – challenging preconceptions of space and gravity. Their avatar, a curiously translucent creation, is able to adhere to surfaces that twist and flip in bizarre ways. Solving puzzles becomes an exercise in learning how to adjust perceptions while exploring this strange and beautiful world.
