LOS ANGELES, CA — September 18, 2020 — AAPE BY *A BATHING APE® and Riot Games have announced their collaboration on the “AAPE BY *A BATHING APE® X LEAGUE OF LEGENDS” collaborative apparel collection, as well as an upcoming League of Legends Prestige Edition Skin for True Damage Yasuo, presenting a crossover of video games and streetwear aesthetic.
Since its launch in 2009 by Riot Games, LEAGUE OF LEGENDS has become the world’s most popular video game and the leader in esports. Its cooperation with AAPE BY *A BATHING APE® has combined the in-game character design concept with the aesthetics of streetwear and launched a selection of wearables.
The collection is composed of two concepts. The first part is consistent with the appearance of the True Damage Yasuo Prestige Edition Skin. AAPE BY *A BATHING APE® transforms this brand-new skin dress into real life in a simulated way. It maintains the gold base tone and black embroideries of the Prestige Edition in the new collection, featuring an outerwear jacket, a T-shirt, a pair of cargo pants, a belt bag and a pair of sneakers. The jacket, pants and bag are made of gold reflective materials, and the T-shirt is made of gold leaf fabric to show the iconic “Moon Face” of AAPE, combined with a pattern that represents True Damage. The footwear design is also based on the classic AAPE Dimension and combines gold with black to reproduce the look of the True Damage Yasuo Prestige Edition Skin in the game.
The second part of the apparel collection takes inspiration from the DJ dress of Yasuo in the music video of True Damage. The part based on the virtual band is full of modern street aesthetics. AAPE BY *A BATHING APE® visualizes the DJ of True Damage Yasuo Prestige Edition Skin and prints the image on T-shirts and hoodies with digital printing technology. Logo design of True Damage skin and AAPE are integrated and emblazoned on the collection. The music video launched by True Damage group has also become the source of inspiration for the design team. The strong Hip-Hop elements in the song are expressed through the oversize and loose tailored silhouettes. Products include pullover hoodies, round neck sweaters, T-shirts and baseball caps — more typical everyday apparel silhouettes — which are then transformed through the ingenious design concepts and motifs.
The AAPE BY *A BATHING APE® X LEAGUE OF LEGENDS collaborative apparel collection will be available for purchase on Sept. 25 local time in the United States, and on Sept. 26 local time in Asia, including Mainland China, Hong Kong S.A.R., Macau S.A.R, Taiwan, and Japan.
