What’s happened in Boston…
Despite being known for its thriving gaming scene, Boston’s FGC was unable to capture any wins during the Red Bull Conquest Boston qualifier on September 28. Despite their best efforts, the Boston FGC was eclipsed by out-of-town competitors hailing from Buffalo.
In the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition bracket, Alex ‘Awhile’ Leong came out on top with a narrow 3-2 victory. ‘Awhile’ was proud to claim the win for Buffalo, stating, “we don’t get too many opportunities to represent our region so this is a great opportunity from our group. I hope this shows people why they can’t sleep on us, we are here to win.”
Much like in the Street Fighter V bracket, the competition was close in TEKKEN 7 as Joseph ‘Joey Fury’ Bennett claimed the crown during a 3-2 match. Joey Fury was excited to represent the greater Northeast region this November during the finals, adding, “I’m extremely proud to represent Buffalo’s fighting game community in the northeast. Boston has an amazing community and I’m honored to represent both Boston and Buffalo and the entire Northeast as the move onto the Finals in Washington D.C.”
Lastly, John ‘ZomB’ Armstrong managed a swift 3-0 victory in the Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 bracket. A prominent competitor in the Guilty Gear scene, ZomB was excited to advance to the finals, stating, “I’m very excited to be able to play on this grand stage and to continue to prove why the northeast is the strongest region.”
The three winners from the Boston qualifier will be making their way to the Red Bull Conquest National Finals later this fall and will be vying for the title of Conquest champions once the finals kick-off beginning on November 16.
