Niantic, Inc., creators of Ingress and Pokémon GO, today revealed the locations and dates for the Ingress real world events taking place around the world in 2018 and 2019. Ingress is Niantic’s debut augmented reality mobile game and represents a pioneering style of real world interactive experiences that features innovative massively multiplayer gameplay. The Ingress events in 2018 and 2019 will continue to build upon Niantic’s vision to connect players in the real world, fostering exploration, activity, friendship, and deeper engagement with cities and neighborhoods around the world.
Since the launch of Ingress in 2012, Niantic has hosted hundreds of thousands of players at more than 2,000 real world events around the world. Ingress XM Anomaly Events are free real-world events that immerse players in unique storylines and take them on an adventure together to complete objectives which change based on player activity onsite and at events happening in tandem throughout the world. Niantic has hosted a variety of other interactive real world events around Ingress alongside XM Anomalies including Operation Clear Field which are activities tailored to environmental conservation and giving back to the community. In addition, Ingress Mission Days, will immerse players in a journey across a city in special exploration activities and GORUCK events integrate Ingress gameplay into a physical and mental team challenge of varying levels.
Ingress transforms neighborhoods and cities around the world into interactive experiences filled with mystery, intrigue, and adventure. Set in a unique sci-fi universe hidden in the real world, players are divided into two factions, The Enlightened and The Resistance, and must collaborate to discover and capture Portals disguised as public art and landmarks.
Niantic also recently announced that the next generation of Ingress, Ingress Prime, is currently in development. The evolved experience will build upon the foundation of the sci-fi mobile AR experience, adding a completely redesigned user interface and sound design as well as new features that leverage state-of-the-art augmented reality technology.

Cities in bold represent Primary events and will include unique onsite activities and enhanced Ingress experiences including a stage show, live actors, special reveals and more.
