GUILD OF MUSIC SUPERVISORS ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR 8TH ANNUAL GMS AWARDS

The Guild of Music Supervisors reveals nominations for eighth annual awards.

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 11, 2018) – The Guild of Music Supervisors unveiled the list of nominees for its eighth annual awards taking place on Thursday, February 8th at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The awards will recognize outstanding Music Supervisors in 14 categories representing motion picture, television, trailers, promos, advertising and video games.

This year’s gaming nominees include Call of Duty: WWII, Grand Turismo Sport, Life is Strange: Before The Storm, Madden NFL 18, and FIFA 18. Apple, Samsung, and Nike were among the top nominees in both the brands and advertising categories. Motion picture nominees include “Beauty and the Beast,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “The Greatest Showman,” “Coco,” “Lady Bird,” and more while television categories include hit shows like “13 Reasons Why,” “Big Little Lies,” “Girls,” “The Voice,” “Master of None,” and “Nashville.” Film trailers including “I, Tonya,” “Baby Driver,” “Alien: Covenant,” and “Black Panther,” were highlighted as nominees

“From music-intensive tent-pole sequels like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ and ‘Pitch Perfect 3,’ to technically complicated musicals and animated films like ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘The Greatest Showman’ and ‘Coco,’ to elegantly-navigated character dramas like ‘Ladybird,’ ‘The Florida Project’ and ‘Call Me By Your Name,’ the film committee has highlighted the best music supervision in film this past year,” said Thomas Golubić, President of the Guild of Music Supervisors. “We are incredibly proud of the stellar work of our fellow music supervisors in this extraordinarily rich year in music in media. Our February 8th awards will be a festive celebration of their laudable work,” said Golubić.

For the third year in a row, this annual event will be hosted at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, a delicately restored, 1,600-seat movie palace that has served as a Los Angeles epicenter for art and modern entertainment for almost a century. In addition to the awards, the evening will also feature live music performances, including this year’s featured GMS Spotlight Artist Yungblud, a Geffen recording artist from Northern England known for his dynamic high energy performances.
