UNREAL SUMMIT 2017 COMING TO SEOUL
Epic Games Korea has announced that the 7th annual Unreal Summit will be held at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul, South Korea on April 22. This year’s keynote speakers include Epic Games CEO and Founder Tim Sweeney and Project Lead and Lead Producer of Tekken Katsuhiro Harada. Attendees can expect a range of informative sessions, including talks on the technology behind Robo Recall, the character art pipeline for Paragon, and general Unreal Engine design, art, photo-realistic environment construction, a mobile MOBA sample, mobile rendering, partner talks and more!
TODAY ON TWITCH: VR MODE UPDATES
Today on the UE4 Twitch livestream, Technical Director Mike Fricker, Tools Programmer Lauren Ridge, Tools Programmer Yannick Lange and Principal Tech Artist Ryan Brucks will be discussing the new improvements that are in VR Mode. During the State of Unreal keynote at GDC, Ryan Brucks and Lauren delivered a hands-on demonstrations live on stage, but now the team behind the tech is here to discuss the updates in detail. UNREAL ENGINE SHOWCASE: PERCEPTION
Darkness plays an integral role in many horror games and is a constant reality for Perception’s lead protagonist, Cassie. Blind, Cassie must rely on hearing and echolocation to help guide her and confront her nightmares for good. The studio behind the game, The Deep End Games, was co-founded by husband and wife team Bill and Amanda Gardner. While the new studio consists of a relatively small development staff, their credits include a handful of critically-acclaimed games including BioShock, BioShock Infinite and Dead Space. For details on the the title, Bill and Amanda participated in an Unreal Engine Showcase to offer insight into the inspiration behind the game and how UE4 was used during development.
UNREAL ENGINE MARKETPLACE SPOTLIGHT: PANDA STUDIOS
Over the past few years, talented content creators have submitted a variety of impressive assets and items to the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Panda Studios is an example of one such development team leading the charge in the creation of premiere and high-quality Marketplace content. As part of the Unreal Engine Showcase, Celeste Peeters, Founder of Panda Studios, was interviewed about her work as a Marketplace creator and the inspiration behind her work.
