Ice Age: Collision Course

Ice Age: Collision Course

Now onto the review…. (which may contain spoilers)

Ah yes Ice Age. The movie series that just keeps on giving and giving and giving aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand oh look another movie fully of over the top puns and humor. Like all great animated movie series, once this one got past number 2 the humor seemed forced and the fun tended to decline. That said there is still a level of nostalgia related to these types of movies. Regardless of crude humor or not. I also have to admit that I have seen every Ice Age movie and do not regret it at all. Each movie has a piece that I have fallen in love with, this one is no different. While a lot of the movie is very forced. There are parts that legitimately made me crack up, specifically when a key character from a past movie showed up and I remembered how much I enjoyed them.

So let’s start off with the first few minutes of the film. Scrat has a cosmic “blunder” and by this the synopsis means: Scrat makes the solar system work properly, while also creating a potential apocalypse for the mammals (or all life) on Earth at the time. As dumb as that may sound. Scrat made is hilarious for me, but then again that is what Scrat does best. So while Scrat is creating cosmic hell/gravitational orbits around the sun, the rest of the gang is living it up on Earth about to celebrate a mammoth wedding. The best part is the opening line to the future husband of Manny’s daughter is “The ice is really icy, like supersize extra value icy.” And with that I completely judged an animated character by that terrible, terrible joke.

So anyways the movie seemed like it was going to be rather simple with a rodent flying a spaceship (UFO) with an acorn as a steering wheel and mammoths having a wedding. I mean all of that sounds pretty much like a plot line of an Ice Age movie. Whelp I was wrong. The rodent makes death rain from above and the other mammals are left to have to take care of it somehow. I’ll let you watch it to learn how on that one (it was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly far fetched).

Overall the movie was interesting but forced as hell. I enjoyed many parts BUT I didn’t enjoy a lot of parts. I am pretty sure I could have gone the rest of my life forgetting about a new Ice Age coming out. I honeslty was good after the Dodos from Ice Age the original movie. They made the movie and that’s all I can remember about it.

The film itself looked amazing. Especially in 4K. The colors were vivid and the art style I always have liked. After watching some of the extra features I realized how much better it has gotten over the years too.

SPEAKING of extra features. They were better than the movie! With things like Meet the Scratazons, Scratasia, The Story So Far, and the sing-along.

Scratasia is my personal favorite. I mean SCRAT MONTAGE! Who could resist? Especially if you made it through the entire movie before hand.
