I Am Wrath

I Am Wrath

No Justice without Blood!

Official Synopsis:
John Travolta is Stanley Hill in the film I Am Wrath, a former Black Ops agent who witnesses his wife’s death at the hands of a street gang. When corrupt cops let the prime suspect walk, Stanley takes the law into his own hands. Joined by a former comrade-in-arms Dennis played by Christopher Meloni, Stanley uncovers a conspiracy that leads to the upper ranks of government as he heads toward a gun-blazing, take-no-prisoners showdown for justice.

John Travolta has done it again with yet another outstanding performance as a revenge-seeking widow.  I am Wrath has a similar plot as the movie Taken, staring Liam Neeson, but with more blood shed. What I appreciated about the film is how the story unfolded, there is just enough background information without giving away the plot. There is quite an abundance of shooting, stabbing along with kidnapping and hostage takeovers.  The writers did a nice job on the role of the daughter Abbie played by Amanda Schull. She was not the stereotypical middle class suburban woman, she is badass and very alert as to the life her father lives and even helps save him in the end.

The turning point in the movie that really defines John Travolta’s character, Stanley Hill, is when he is reading the bible and a sentence stands out to following this he then begins his hunt for his wife’s killer. There is a scene where Stanley is in a tattoo shop then attacks his tattoo artist but when he turns around he has a giant tattoo on his back of a cross with large block letters stating “I AM WRATH” which is clearly where the writers got the title from. There are a few scenes that seem very predictable with exaggerated gestures and emotions, but other than that the movie was pretty good.

Special Feature:
    •    Filmmaker Commentary

This Blu-ray Digital HD package includes a special feature with director Chuck Russell and writer and actor Paul Sloan. Russell provides insight on the movie, the background behind it as well as how the more all came together. The audience really gets perspective on the film and I honestly enjoyed it.

I didn’t really think I would like this film just based off of John Travolta’s wig on the cover but surprisingly you don’t notice it as much after a while. All jokes, aside I highly recommend this film if you like action and violence or John Travolta.
