The whole cast is back for yet another adventure to find love in this heart-warming romantic comedy.  However, if you’ve never seen My Big Fat Greek wedding you’ll be able to pick up on the central theme within the first scene.  

 

    The movie begins with Toula (Nia Vardalos), Ian (John Corbett) and their teenage daughter Paris (Elena Kampouris) ending her high school career and heading to college, if she can just convince her family to let her go. The over bearing family takes it a step too far when they pressure Paris to find a Greek suitor to date and wanting her to stay in the city for college. Of course Paris being the stereotypical headstrong teenager rebels and applies to schools out of her hometown just to get away from her family. Toula beings to reevaluate her life and all of the things that she believes she has missed out on due to her needy family.  In the end both Paris and Toula realize that right under her family is where they need to be. This film showed a great mother-daughter relationship that is typical but relatable at the same time.

 

    Meanwhile, Gus (Michael Constantine) and Maria (Lainie Kazan) have a catastrophe on their hands that shakes up the whole family. Gus finds his marriage license and notices that the priest never signed it therefore he and Maria are not officially married. Of course when Maria gets wind of this she is upset and finally wants Gus to propose to her the traditional way, which isn’t promising but in the end everything works out for the best and the family is stronger than ever.

    I didn’t see the first My Big Fat Greek Wedding and I still enjoyed this movie. I believe the overall theme is that growth is healthy and people can change. The story was light and very optimistic which is quite refreshing.
