New screenshots of “Yesterday Origins” are being revealed by publisher Microïds and developer
Pendulo Studios. Lovers of adventure and mystery will cross the globe and the mists of time in this
new game by the creators of the famous “Runaway” saga, which launches on PS4, Xbox One, PC and
Mac on September 29, 2016.
The team at Pendulo Studios, drawing upon over 20 years of experience in
making adventure games with compelling storylines and memorable characters,
is currently developing its first title for both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One
consoles and PC/Mac.
This is the first time a Pendulo Studios game is developed in 3D, allowing
unprecedented visual effects (dynamic shadowing, realistic physics for objects…). It does however
retain the very recognizable “cartoon” graphic style which has been part of their success for over a
decade (the “Runaway” saga, “The Next Big Thing”…).
In “Yesterday Origins”, the game sends main protagonists John Yesterday and his partner Pauline, a
couple of immortals who own an antiques store in Paris, across the globe through multiple periods.
The story takes place in turn during the current and Medieval eras, through a series of flashbacks. At
the beginning of the game, a young John is imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition for witchcraft, just
prior to the sequence of events that will change his life/lives forever. Although not yet able to
resurrect at that point of his life, he has already attracted the attention and fallen foul of Church

authorities due to his ability to read, understand and speak any language he encounters, regardless
of whether he has studied it or not.Most of the adventure, however, is set in the present day, and the player assumes the roles of John
and Pauline in turns as they seek the origins of immortality. Other members of the large cast (over
25 characters) have other plans for them… This will lead to a breathtaking chase across the world,
from France to the United States, with stops in Spain, the Netherlands or the United Kingdom along
the way.
The game is fully voice-acted and has its own original musical scores. The distinctive tone of the
studio’s titles is present: mature, always offbeat, with a sprinkle of black humor. The interface and
controls are equally suited to the joypad and to the mouse.
“Yesterday Origins” is an adventure game developed and co-produced by Microïds and Pendulo Studios,
with a launch date scheduled for September 29, 2016 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac, available
in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Polish.
