Blue-ray for The Perfume of the Lady in Black will be available on May 10, 2016

NEW YORK, NY – March 25, 2016 – Raro Video and Kino Lorber are proud to announce the Blu-ray release of The Perfume of the Lady in Black, a cult classic of Italian cinema directed by Francesco Barilli and starring Mimsy Farmer as a brilliant scientist who becomes haunted by mysterious visions and strange hallucinations that slowly reduce her to insanity.

The Perfume of the Lady in Black will become available on May 10, 2016, with a SRP of $29.95. This Blu-ray edition has been digitally restored and remastered, features new and improved subtitle translation, and comes packed with special features including the original trailer, an interview with director Francesco Barilli, a short film by Barilli – The Wandering Knight (Il Cavaliere Errante, 23 minutes), and a fully illustrated booklet containing critical analysis of the film.

Synopsis:

Director Francesco Barilli’s hallucinatory horror-thriller stars Mimsy Farmer who portrays Sylvia, a chemist who begins to suffer strange visions; a a mysterious woman in black applying perfume in a mirror appears to her and strangers follow her everywhere she goes. Barilli’s psychological investigation into the workings of the mind becomes apparent when it is revealed that as a child, Sylvia committed a horrible crime. The slow progression from successful scientist to a woman on the verge of insanity shows an in-depth look at the intricacies of the haunted mind. This is a remarkable film, weaving reality, fantasy and memory into an almost seamless fabric.
