If you’re like me, chess is a game you’ve heard of, but never really played, much less became proficient at. Moreover, the idea of studying chess seems daunting and boring. Chess 2: The Sequel is a new videogame that attempts to restoke the fires of the “game of kings” by doing away with most of the strategies and pattern-recognition that thousands of chess books document. It does this by introducing six playable armies, a new win condition called midline invasion that promotes faster, more aggressive play, and “dueling.” A timed Ouya exclusive, Chess 2 is available today.
