Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh

Silly Old Bear

Disney’s new animation Winnie the Pooh is a very impressive adventure. It is absolutely adorable! It truly is the classic books come to life. Winnie the Pooh is the second most recognized animated character in the world. Second only to Mickey Mouse. That is really saying something for Disney. They know what they’re doing!

Winnie the Pooh is inspired by the stories of A. A. Milne, the original creator of Pooh bear. The actual history is incredibly interesting and actually outlined in the bonus features. If you don’t know the history of Pooh I would highly recommend watching it. This particular Winnie the Pooh film is an adventure to find Eeyore a new tail, yes he has lost it again, all while trying to save Christopher Robin from the dreaded Backson. This particular adventure is quite whimsical. It is an incredible family film appropriate for all ages.

I am so impressed by how great and classic everything look. The characters haven’t been changed into the modern style of animation. They kept them all very true to their original forms. Of course they are cleaned up a bit which is only natural, but they kept the lovable feel of them all. The water color style backgrounds and classic hand-drawn animation is quite endearing. That classic feel was incredibly important to create the proper feel the originals emitted. The creative design of letters and words for props is marvelous. The film is truly an outstanding high definition Blu-ray film. Even their voices are outstanding and true to their original voices. The narrator John Cleese is wonderful, so classic and comforting.

The writing is wonderful. Again appropriate for all ages. The witty comedy is appealing to both the young and old. There are quite a few hysterical lines delivered by Pooh and Eeyore. I found myself laughing quite often. It really is the perfect family film.  The appeal of Pooh and his friends is simply irresistible.

I was not the only one who found the film irresistible. My 3 year old nephew watched the movie with me and afterwards I ask if he liked it. His exact words were, “yeah, I liked the Pooh!,” then preceded to watch the film over and over again for the rest of the weekend. In my book that is the ultimate form of success. Creating a new animation from the classics and having a new generation love it as much as the last. It’s a wonderful feat to accomplish and Disney has absolutely done it with Winnie the Pooh.
