The Incredibles

The Incredibles

The Incredibles

Is this film worth the extra scoop? Definitely. It was in 2004 and it is not less spectacular now. The Incredibles is one of the new aged Disney Pixar collections. They aren’t the classic Disney productions. They have a bigger flare to them. The more accurate precision with modern day characters makes it easier for today’s viewers to relate. That is one of the reasons it makes such a great family film.

Kids want to action, bright colors, silly jokes, and of course clumsy characters that always seem to mistakenly always get the job done. Parents want entertainment for their children, good values and content, and to not be without enjoyment themselves. This film has plenty for both.

The action and story line is great for all viewers, especially families, due to the emphasis on family.  Their everyday problems we all deal with, along with the ‘super’ ones we don’t, create an immediate personal connection. It just makes a great entertaining family film all the way around.

Now, we know the content is great, but what about the quality of picture and sound? Hello…it’s PIXAR!! Were you expecting anything less than absolute perfection?? Brad Bird did a stand up ob writing and directing this film.

It looked and sounded INCREDIBLE (sorry, had to say it)! The coloration was so brilliant and exciting. The perfectly crisp lines and separation of hair follicles and stands of clothing were amazing.  I don’t think anything was overlooked in this film. I really enjoyed all the great shadowing throughout the film. The reflections on the granite counter in the scene of Mrs. Hogenson’s kitchen were absolutely outrageous. That was very nicely done, touché is in order. The attention to detail is out of this world. I have to admit I wish the deleted water scene wouldn’t have been canned.  That would have been visually amazing to see.

The sound quality blew me away right from the beginning. The classic opening film intro of fireworks around the castle sounded great in surround sound. I felt the need to repeat. I was never disappointed at any point throughout the film.

Special Features

These were pretty good features.  There are quite a few to view and not all necessary, but for the most part they were good. You get an entire disc of nothing but features with the blu-ray. The interactive redevelopment of Nomanism Island is interesting and creative, even if I’m not quite sure the purpose of it. The Easter Egg of ‘Incrediblunders’ is by far my favorite. I think I may have chuckled out loud.

The Deleted Scenes Bonus was also very informative and enjoyable. I think they chose well in the end with the scenes used to make the film. There were a couple I found intriguing from an adult point of view, but unnecessary as far as needing to be included in the film for structural purposes.

The Short Films were cute and kids will eat them up. Jack-Jack is a great character who deserved a little more screen time. I’m glad he got it in the short film.

I’d have to say these features really allowed you to get to know the makers as people and to see all the hard work they really put into the development of the film. You have more appreciation for the end product when you see how excited they all were to put the film together.

All in all I think these were really good features worth a little time to watch.
