Scream Trilogy

Scream Trilogy

A Screaming Good Time

I absolutely loved these “horror” films! Why? Because they are pure entertainment! There isn’t an excess of gore and torture like in today’s overkill horror films. Scream finds itself in a class with the big boys, such as the Halloweens, and Friday the 13th. Those were all classic thriller slasher films that deserve a great deal of respect. The Screams did a stand up job paying homage to the original thrillers with all the classic cliques and rules of play. For example running up the stairs and back into the house, one hit to the killer and back to running, the ever classic shower scene and stating of ‘I’ll be right back”, it’s all there and much much more.

The light comedy and horror make for the perfect combo thriller. The audience is kept on their toes, but without the aftereffects of nightmares and embolisms. The comic relief is greatly appreciated and in perfect balance with suspense and gore.  The writing was incredibly outstanding and seemingly perfect for the casting leads of Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox. The music by Marco Beltrami was simply outstanding. What a great way to keep the mood light and goofy one second and turn your stomach with excitement the next! I loved every goofy and thrilling second of it.

All 3 Screams hit big because all 3 had one crucial element 9 out of 10 films mess up these days. They all 3 had the same major cast, director, and writer. This was one of the major reasons the films were so successful. If more sequels had these things in common there may be more contenders out there.

It truly was the combo of all things ‘slasher film’ that made these movies a hit. Horror films were just missing the simplistic horror original quality once present in all 70’s and 80’s classics. Scream brought back the excitement and thrill.

Screaming til your Blu!

Wow! I was quite impressed with the quality of these films. They looked really quite good. The 1080p high definition quality and DTS-HD were outstanding. Compared to the original DVDs these were gold. The effort of transferring from film to HD really shows in all three films. The colors are incredibly crisp and bold. Of course as the films became newer the quality increased, but all the same the original really shines. These are definitely worth replacing with the Blu-ray versions. The price is outstanding and quite affordable. I would most definitely recommend the horror-filled transition.
