Honestly, the five minute show floor video speaks for itself; Infamous 2 felt great. A refreshed (aesthetically and mechanically) Cole MacGrath was a destructive force that rendered his previous incarnation docile and weak. A few highlights to lookout for:
-
Failure as I became acclimated to the controls.
-
Cole’s improve climbing abilities. I went off path during the limo chase just to test how well Cole scaled buildings. Seemed a bit faster than in Infamous.
-
Cole’s power line sliding has been expanded; note the glowing wires on the sides of buildings
-
A better tool for melee attacks.
-
Environmental destructibility. Look at all the buildings that crumble around Cole’s force push and electricity grenades.
-
The electric tornado. The end game sequence seemed specifically designed to demonstrate its absolute destructive power.
The demo was short but sweet. Sony was tight lipped on Infamous 2’s release date, but with their loaded fall schedule I would have to assume it’s a late spring or summer game. Either way is too long; it looks like another classic from Sucker Punch.
