NEW YORK and AUSTIN, Texas—October 19, 2010—Lee Majors, who has starred in numerous television series over six decades, most notably “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “The Fall Guy,” and “The Big Valley,” will be a special guest at Wizard World Austin Comic Con, November 12-14 at the Austin Convention Center. The appearance will mark Majors’ third consecutive at a Wizard World show, following visits to Big Apple Comic Con and New England Comic Con earlier this month, his first conventions in more than 30 years.
Majors, whose portrayal of “Col. Steve Austin” in the hit television series and other TV movies and series helped make the “Six Million Dollar Man” franchise one of the most popular of the 1970’s into the 1980’s, got his first big regular role as “Heath Barkley” in “The Big Valley,” which ran from 1965-69. After co-starring in “Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law” in the early 1970’s, he was cast in the lead role in a TV movie version of The Six Million Dollar Man that was later turned into the hugely successful series.
Majors joins a group of celebrities at Austin Comic Con that includes iconic TV actors Adam West and Burt Ward. West played the role of Batman in the original 1960’s TV series, along with Ward as his sidekick Robin.
West, a true American icon, is best known for his roles as “Batman” and to a younger generation as “Mayor Adam West” in the popular animated series “Family Guy.” He has made nearly 50 movies, including starring or co-starring roles in Drop Dead Gorgeous, The New Age, The Young Philadelphians, An American Vampire Story, Soldier in the Fain, Robinson Crusoe on Mars, and Nevada Smith.
Ward was cast as Robin alongside West’s Batman for an unforgettable three-season run that lasted 120 episodes. He has reunited with West numerous times to reprise his role as Robin, and has also written an autobiography about his Batman experiences called “Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights.” In recent years, Ward has founded a charitable organization called Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, Inc, which rescues giant breed dogs like Great Danes and some smaller breed dogs.
