So CES hasn’t even started yet.
And yet it sure feels like it to us. Yesterday we attended the Lenovo “Blogger Nights” party, which felt more like your average full-on press meeting than anything concocted to please the blogging crowd.
The food was pretty darn good (I hear the fondue was amazing, but I was busy chatting it up with some of the Lenovo staff), and the alcohol was actually great. I think my coworkers could reinforce my thoughts there, as we all three ended up pretty intoxicated by the end of the night. So much so that I actually turned the wrong direction coming out of the bathroom in the Venetian last night.
But all that aside, Lenovo’s new line of laptops looks particularly impressive. While much fuss has been made surrounding the Lenovo Hybrid model and the new non-netbook netbook, I actually was more interested in the Core i5-powered standard 15-inch models (and a funky 17 inch model with dual-screens… on a laptop. Never seen that in person until now). These don’t even get warm to the touch it seems under a mild load, which is pretty huge for an i5-powered laptop in my opinion. Haven’t seen the i7s yet, however, and I haven’t tested them under heavy load.
As for the 15-inch line of Thinkpads, a little bird tells me that the one to really wait for is the W510 if you’re looking for power. My breath is baited.
Here are some random pics.
