Impressions: Star Wars Clone Wars Republic Heroes

At our Lucasarts appointment, we got to witness the presentation of a new two player co-op  game that is set in the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated universe. Being developed in house  with the same studio that produces the TV show, this authentic looking and sounding title  has gamers playing as both Jedis and clones as they look to repel the forces of the Empire.

Lucasarts’ main goal here was to create an experience that would first and foremost please  the audience of the TV show, which is primarily kids. In fact, the story within the game  takes place between the events of season one and season two of the cartoon, and also  introduces some new locations and characters along the way.

Combat and game play is intentionally made easier so that these younger audiences can hop in  and enjoy, without having to worry about learning a variety of game mechanics often  associated with third person action adventure titles.

Gameplay is split between Jedi missions and clone missions, with the former focusing on  close combat lightsaber and FOrce power action, while the clone missions are all about heavy  firepower.

Combined, the campaign is intended to last about eight to ten hours, although there are  various collectibles and other distractions that can extend the experience.

Much like other titles built for a younger audience, Star Wars: Clone Wars: Republic Heroes  is likely going to be a fun game for all ages.
