Since the release of the DSi, there has been a bit of a lack of downloadable content on the DSi. Though recently we’ve seen a small influx of new downloadable titles, most of them have been very short and not really too worthwhile. We would hope that Nintendo could create the same type of quality of downloadable content as other consoles as well as the PSP, as the amount of creative ideas are limitless (or just the amount of GBA/GBC games that should be carried over). However, at this E3, there are actually a few good DSi downloadable titles that were shown, though you had to look around to find them. As you would expect, though, the majority of DSi titles are coming from the big N at the moment and until the system has been around for a little longer (maybe a full year), it will probably remain that way.
One of the better DSi titles provided by Nintendo on the show floor is Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! This game costs a total of 800 DSi points which is the equivalent of 8 U.S. Dollars and though it may not pack the largest amount of individual levels (as we would expect for only $8), it does include an entirely new level editor for players to create and share their own user created levels. I played around with the level editor a bit today and it was quite easy to use, where basically you chose a type of material/object and paint it onto the level. Hopefully this and Reflection will be two of the first of many great downloadable titles to come. Pick up Minis March Again! on next monday, June 8th via Nintendo WiFi connection.
