Pinch yourself.
Okay, now you’re ready. Earlier today, word hit the street (courtesy of Nintendo Power) that a new Mega Man title is in the works. But it’s not just any Mega Man title–it’s Mega Man 9, the first installment in the original classic series since 1996’s Mega Man 8 for the Playstation. And it’ll only be available as a downloadable WiiWare, PSN, and Xbox Live! title.
You might be saying, “so? Mega Man 8 really wasn’t all that fantastic.” To which the reply comes, “but this isn’t just another Mega Man 8. It’s an all-new Mega Man game with NES-style graphics and the old-school eight-boss power-stealing Dr. Wily-starring action of the earliest titles in the series.” The game is designed around the original formula to feel as much like a new NES Mega Man title as possible.
The cast? Actually, the robot masters have already been revealed:
Magma Man
Galaxy Man
Jewel Man
Concrete Man
Hornet Man
Plug Man
Tornado Man
Splash Woman
Ohhh, yes. Now all we need is BUN BUN working audio and we have ourselves a full-blown 1988 party!
We’ll have more as soon as it becomes available.
