Director Jee-woon Kim makes his Hollywood debut and Arnold's back in action in The Last Stand. Arriving soon from Lionsgate, the Blu-ray+Digital+Ultraviolet release packs a punch, but the movie is disappointing.

Sound the alarm... the HD alarm that is!  From MGM comes a 1960s classic with an incredible cast headed by Steve McQueen and James Garner, directed by John Sturges.  Based on true events, this tells the triumphant story of Allied POWs with a knack for "flying the coup" that are luckily assigned to the same imprisonment.  Fantastic writing, great acting, above average HD conversion, and descriptive extras create a very enticing entry into the heralded war film genre.

Cloud Atlas Featured

Cloud Atlas, as a book, was a transcendent experience that weaved together multiple stories over multiple timelines. In the end they all collided into a beautifully woven web of love that conquers all, and finding oneself when one doesn't know they were searching. It's a lot of complication with a definite ending. So how do you take a book like this and translate it to film? You do it carefully.

Reach out and shift into high-def high gear!  From Paramount comes the Blu-ray release of an action adaptation from a novel in Lee Child's book series based on the title character written/directed by Christopher McQuarrie, starring Tom Cruise and Rosamund Pike.  Cruise shines in the fightin'/shootin'/drivin' parts of the film, but the "mystery" portion of the program does eventually run a bit dry.

When a team or otherwise group of people come together and all are at their best, something special's bound to happen. For Star Trek The Next Generation (TNG), most consider their third season their finest, the point when cast and crew all hit their strides. That complete season is now available in stellar form from CBS/Paramount.

TNG's two part season three cliffhanger is oft regarded as one of the best in television history. CBS & Paramount have released the two episodes on Blu-ray, seamlessly merged to give it the movie-quality presentation it deserves.

With so many musicals based in the early 1900s, you would think those times would be happier than they were.
