Ghost in the Shell: ARISE

Ghost in the Shell: ARISE

The setting of this futuristic tale is in a post-cybernetic world where basically technology has taken over the world. In a place known as New Port City, its up to a group of selected individuals known as the members of Public Security Section 9, who are entrusted with keeping the peace around the town. However, peace seems like a cup held over running water…eventually it will run over and cause a spill! Within the city, members of the security team have to deal with corrupt officials, prostitution, and highly-skilled hackers who have found a way to hack into the human mind and make people bend to their will. The members seem as if they have enough on their plate, that is until a mysterious group of individuals known as the 501 Organzation come into play. Apparently, they have found a way to manipulate electricity into a weapon. Each episode intertwines scenarios and characters alike.

The story introduces some very interesting characters, one of which is Major Motoko Kusanagi, the main character of the story. Upon recognition, one would think Kusanagi is a complexed character: she particpates in a couple of relationships meaning she has a boyfriend and a girlfriend, she is serious when receiving assignments and she battles with the concept of whether or not she is a real person or not (although she is a cyborg). She does however, like to engage in friendly activities and your squad considers her at times to be “one of the guys”. Another interesting character is Batou; what viewers will notice right away is that despite his rough exterior, he is somewhat light-hearted and openly jokes  and shows compassion for his squad members.
