Since 2004, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong has provided four solid puzzle titles to both the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Starting as an action/platforming puzzler, the series moved more into a sandbox style, on-rails platforming puzzler. Everything up until now has been seen in a classic 2D platforming style but with the newest iteration to the series being on the 3DS, why not change things up a little bit to better accommodate the hardware?

It's a big month for Star Trek, with the release of TNG S03 on Blu-ray, the new JJ Abram's film in theaters, and a videogame. I can tell you the TNG Blu-ray is amazing; I haven't seen the new movie yet obviously, but I bet it's a better value than the new game.

I have a feeling this sub genre is going to be quite prevalent in the upcoming console generation.  The makers of Rift seem to be putting in an early bid.  This action MMORPG from Trion features a sci-fi narrative thread stacked with an abundance of gun battles, exploration, and mode variety.  This isn't a sterling example of AMMORPGs.  But it's solid enough to function, and is a blast to play.

The update of Ninja Gaiden 3 is now out for the Xbox 360 and PS3. These new editions come after the game first arrived on the Wii U last year. Since I don’t have a Wii U, I won’t bother to compare these new versions to the Wii U installment. For more details on the Wii U version, check out Steve McGehee’s review.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates To Infinity is the latest release in the “Mystery Dungeon” series, a spin-off of the ever-so-popular core Pokemon series. Though the main series has been going strong for nearly 20 years (!!!) in Japan, the Mystery Dungeon games have quietly become a mainstay of their own – Gates to Infinity is the ninth such title in eight years (though only six have made it to the states). I had never played a Mystery Dungeon title until GTI, but having grown up in the hey-day of Poke-mania has made me a huge fan of the franchise and has given its main series the distinction of being the only RPG I ever regularly play for fun. So how did GTI play to a man who tends to avoid such things (even if they’re painted in a Pokemon coat?) Surprisingly…well.

The 2013 edition of SimCity may go down in history as being one of the hardest games to review. Ever. By now, you’re probably well aware of all the hubbub surrounded the latest of edition of Maxis’ beloved title. Backed by the publishing power of EA, the developers opted for an always-on/server-dependent experience, a design choice that, to put it bluntly, practically ruined the initial launch of such a highly-anticipated game.
