A head in the clouds is an idiom normally assigned to the whimsical musings of idealistic dreamers. At Irrational Games it appears to be a declaration of faith. The hype surrounding their follow-up to BioShock was bound to go supersonic, but the wild ambition and blissful imagination that visible in BioShock Infinite's announcement and subsequent preview cycle sent expectations through the troposphere. Irrational was expected to reach for the stars, but what were the odds they were actually going to pull another one down?

The Darkness II is a direct sequel to the 2007 FPS developed by Starbreeze Studios. Digital Extremes took the reigns this time around and their story starts two years after the events of The Darkness. Let's shed some light on this Darkness, shall we?

Come Get Some... of this review!  From publisher 2K Games comes the "vaporware" title that is 15 years in the making from a handful of developers including: 3D Realms, Triptych Games, Gearbox Software, and Piranha Games.  And while this is not the most deep, rich, or technically sound FPS available today, the varied elements, over-the-top presentation, and fun gameplay make this a worthy entry into the franchise known for babes, beer, and gun blasting.

The final DLC pack for Borderlands was recently released, just a few weeks before the imminent Game of the Year Edition. This fourth DLC pack once again brings players back to Pandora, this time to face the uprising revolution of those little funny (and dangerous) robots known as Claptraps. In Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, players will once again be out to hunt, loot, and conquer.

In Mafia II, there was little, if any, divergence from the main story. Some hailed it as a successful cinematic approach to interactive storytelling, others called it shoddy, barren game design. Despite your predisposition to the original Mafia II campaign, Jimmy’s Vendetta promises to deliver an “arcade-style” approach to gameplay in Empire Bay.

In Mafia II, the player takes the role of Vito, a WWII war vet who is thrust into a life of organized crime. The narrative is heavily referential with regards to essentially every single mafia movie you’ve ever seen. Featuring well-designed (although archetypical) and well-voiced characters, Mafia II’s story is not groundbreaking or overly compelling, but it is sufficient.

MLB 2K10 has arrived! Baseball fans across the country couldn't be happier, unless you're a Reds' fan. Things have come and gone for the series and this looks to be the best out of the bunch. As with life, though, nothing is perfect and the same rules apply to MLB 2K10.

Gearbox and 2K released the third DLC pack for Borderlands recently, and it's considered by many to be the best. The first DLC, Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, had gamers fighting off zombies while DLC #2 was arena based and featured Mad Moxxi. This third DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, picks up from the end of the original game and is packed with some great new features.

Borderlands expands again with its second major DLC release, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot. Unlike the original game and the first DLC, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Underdome Riot is focused solely on surviving wave after wave of CPU enemies. What you'll face in this DLC is not unlike the Horde mode from Gears of War 2 or Firefight from Halo. Underdome Riot also includes a new weapons storage bank that can be upgraded, but seasoned players looking for a new level cap or new quests won't find that here.

Tower defense games, we've all played them at work, during class or at home when we're bored out of our mind. Prior to the days of free flash based tower defense games, you had to shell out your hard earned money for them on the PC. The Stronghold games have much more going for it then having your men defend a castle from wave after wave of enemy soldiers. Since all the Stronghold games have similar game play and recycle a lot of the audio (or at the very least use new voice actors to record new lines) I'll just explain it once and mention any new additions or deviations in the following titles.

Many fans of 2K and Gearbox's Borderlands spent at least part of their Thanksgiving weekend playing the new DLC, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned. This first of several upcoming DLC offerings puts players in Jakobs Cove, an area swarming with zombified creatures ready to gnaw at your bones.

As you probably know by now, Borderlands is a billed as a FPS and RPG hybrid that's been developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2k games. There have been FPS/RPG hybrids before on the PC, so how does Borderlands stack up?

Gearbox Software, developers of the acclaimed Half-Life and Brothers In Arms series, teamed up with renowned publisher 2K Games to release Borderlands earlier this month. Borderlands is what Gearbox calls an RPS, a style of gameplay that is best described as an RPG crossed with a FPS. There have been first person RPGs before, but nothing quite like what has been done here with Borderlands. Let's take a closer look.
