Inside's quiet confidence is a maneuver invented to not only disarm the player, but also destabilize assumptions that seem inseparable from an entire class of games.

Tonight was a night off from reviewing. Umbrella Corps was on the docket tomorrow, so tonight was a night of relaxation and rest. I had planned on spending time with the kids, petting the cats, sipping on Coca-Cola Life and just kicking back. One email from Bandai Namco Entertainment ruined it all. *whispers* Thank you.

While Ori and the Blind Forest’s style and construction were unassailable, its subscription to its declared genre was prudent if not passive. Great art shouldn’t be afraid to go outside of its lines. Definitive Edition, arriving nearly a year later, expands Ori’s content but delivers a parallel message.

Among the many adorable Nintendo characters, none combines cuteness and obscurity quite like Chibi-Robo. He’s a 4-centimeter tall robot with a cord for a tail, which he uses to recharge since his life is forever tied to an internal battery. To my knowledge, he’s the only character in the Big N’s lore to have a constantly-ticking clock tied to personal existence. That’s quite a heavy load for our petite hero to shoulder!

Abyss Odyssey is an impressive experiment with questionable practicality. From a Chilean team with a passion for surreal adventure, it hits expected marks. As a roguelike-platformer with a fondness for fighting game mechanics, it's susceptible to chaos.
