The Men Who Built America originally aired as an 8-hour (with commercials), four-episode docu-drama miniseries from the History Channel. On this release, the episodes are broken down into eight 40+ minute pieces that add up to six hours of a historical soap opera chronologically centered around the lives of Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan and Henry Ford. Is it six hours of historical splendor, or does the time drag as if you were an underpaid worker in one of Carnegie's steel mills? Let's find out!

Dinotasia
Hot
Dinotasia is one of the most unique films I’ve watched. Its intent is both novel and fascinating – to take the typical nature documentary and transform the fact-laden genre into something that’s as emotionally-moving as it is educational. To aid in this transformation, Werner Herzog (the narrator) presents the documentary as a play performed throughout various periods during which dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Does the doc do dinosaurs justice, or is it better off left as asteroid food? Let’s find out.

The easy thing to do here would be to make fun of this release, and I'm sure reviewers have done that this week. Admittedly, I went into this review dreading it a bit mainly because I didn't know anything about Katy Perry, other than she sang songs. What did I get out of Katy Perry: Part of Me? Definitely more than I bargained for, which turned out to be a great thing.
