The notion of fate leads stay at home son, Jeff (Jason Segel), on a sporadic path. I had not heard of the movie Win Win before it landed on my desk for review. Skeptical, I watched the movie last night and was very impressed with it. A great script, acting, and a solid 'feel good' story made Win Win one of the best movies I have seen this year. Let's take a closer look at the Blu-ray release of this Fox Searchlight film.

In 1980, Roger Corman directed Battle Beyond the Stars, a film he would refer to as a mix of Star Wars and The Seven Samurai. This sci-fi adventure, with its quirky humor and low budget production, arrives on Blu-ray in a 30th Anniversary Edition next month from Shout!.

Since they are so close to one another, Karin does all she can to include Lars in their lives. Each time, Lars finds an excuse to remain in his humble dwelling. Six weeks pass, and Lars finally visits his brother and sister-in-law. Bursting with joy, he tells them he has a visitor... The next scene is simply priceless. The camera cuts to Gus and Karin with both mouths dropped to the floor. They almost appear frozen in time. Next we see Lars alongside his new girlfriend Bianca…who is a full-size, atomically correct, and provocatively dressed sex doll. The smile on Lars’ face is just about as priceless. Some sagas just won't die. This is the catch phrase for Vampires Suck, and sadly this movie is right. However, I was not screaming “die” at the TV screen when I was watching this parody; at least for the most part.
