Nintendo 3DS

I haven’t touched a Sonic game since the Sonic release in 2006. That sole experience left me scarred and sad that the franchise might have been going south without much hope for return. Anyone who played that title certainly came away with the same impression. And it has lasted for a long, long time. So, colored me surprised when I started in on Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice and found that maybe, just maybe there was life left in a once beloved blue hedgehog that was long thought gone. Time to go fast again.

Codemasters' F1 series is back for its annual release, this time sporting a deep career mode while continuing to offer a strong (and pretty much exclusive) F1 sim experience.

Another year, another Madden. Another dream of the Cleveland Browns obtaining a winning season is probably sadly only achievable through the power of EA Tiburon’s Madden NFL 17. I keep dreaming, though.

Scouring Abzu's marine paradise opens an argument for emotive communication and softened storytelling. Too often, however, Abzu is less a defense of its beliefs and more a negotiation out of a cornered medium.

I Am Setsuna Featured
PlayStation 4
Written by Jonny Herrera     July 21, 2016     0   1   0   0   0
The story takes place in a snowy barren landscape that has been infested with monsters. When you first start out, you are introduced to one of the main characters along the journey, Endir, who is a swift swordsman from a tribe full of mercenaries. Later as you progress, you come across Setsuna who needs to travel across the lands to rid all of the monsters through a ritual sacrifice. Throughout the journey you’ll meet your typical JRPG stereotypes (brute, healer, support, etc), which support and aid Setsuna, as she progresses through her pilgrimage. Now, if this sounds familiar, it’s because Final Fantasy X had a very similar story, in which Yuna sacrificed herself to rid Sin, a ferocious monster that destroyed everything within it’s path. With that being said, that was the only correlation I found between the two games, as I am Setsuna really displays a more nostalgic feel, with a modern twist on the JRPG genre of video games.

Tonight was a night off from reviewing. Umbrella Corps was on the docket tomorrow, so tonight was a night of relaxation and rest. I had planned on spending time with the kids, petting the cats, sipping on Coca-Cola Life and just kicking back. One email from Bandai Namco Entertainment ruined it all. *whispers* Thank you.

While Ori and the Blind Forest’s style and construction were unassailable, its subscription to its declared genre was prudent if not passive. Great art shouldn’t be afraid to go outside of its lines. Definitive Edition, arriving nearly a year later, expands Ori’s content but delivers a parallel message.
