About a year ago, Namco released Pac-Man Party for the Wii. This year, Pac-Man Party 3D was released, and it's essentially the same game. It's a compilation of fifty or so mini-games that also has a "story" mode that is really just a 3D board game. Toss in the original Pac-Man and two other Namco classics, and a party mode, and what do you get?

It's one thing to remix and recreate something new from any old classic. It's quite another to try something different with one of the best arcade games of all time, Galaga. Did Namco Bandai treat it well or did they take the name and create a monster? Come find out...

Ridge Racer was a blast in 1993 when it made its debut in the arcades (those were places where giant cabinets ruled the earth and gamers' college funds). Many racers up to that point that weren't made by Sega of America truly weren't worth a damn. Sega had dominated the market and had recently introduced a high profile game called Daytona USA. When Namco brought its beauty into the ring it stood out like a wonderful sore thumb and the series that is Ridge Racer never looked back from there. Fast forward years later and the series has worn its welcome a bit having been overshadowed by such hits as Forza and Gran Turismo. Namco, to their credit, has been true to its series, keeping it in an arcade format where it's more fun to have a racing game in short burst than it is for a racing game to become an RPG. So what does that have to do with anything? Well, if you're still reading this review you've probably figured out that Namco has taken their popular racing sim and converted it to the iPad. While there's no doubt that the iPad...

Time Crisis is back on the PS3 with Move support in Time Crisis: Razing Storm. Featuring several modes and the Arcade mode of Time Crisis 4, and another game known as Deadstorm Pirates, this is a fairly compelling release for rail shooter fans on the PS3, but one that is plagued with nagging control issues.

The Mooninites would definitely be pleased with this release from Namco.  Bit. Trip BEAT HD is the iteration of the first game in the Bit. Trip series made for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch now available on the App Store.  And although the presentation is a little "off the wall" it's a challenging game that makes you want to pick up and play a lot.

The iPhone didn't do it justice. The Neo Geo pocket didn't do it justice. The DS/GBA/GB/Nintendo whatever didn't do it justice. There hasn't been a portable system that has successfully done Pac-Man justice. Until now.

Namco's popular Tekken series returned to the PSP late last month with Tekken 6. A couple of weeks earlier, Tekken 6 was released on the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and our resident Tek-head Eric Layman was impressed. Normally when you think of console to handheld ports, you expect a lot of missing content and other short cuts, but I'm pleased to say Tekken 6 on the PSP is a full featured fighter that is well worth your consideration.

One of the many great things about being a reviewer is that you get to play games that you otherwise wouldn't have. Sometimes those opportunities can lead to a new found respect for a game, a series, or even a genre. I was recently tasked with reviewing We Cheer 2, the newest dance/rhythm title in Namco's lineup. Having no experience with the first We Cheer nor cheering in general, I dove right into this one and tried to view it from the perspective of the target audience. I think We Cheer 2 gets a lot right, but there is room for improvement. That said, if you're looking for the perfect cheer, you won't get any closer on a console this holiday.
